Design & Illustration Portfolio

I have worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for two decades, half of that within digital ad agencies throughout the United States. I have created social posts, print designs, motion graphics, videos, animations, illustrations, cover designs, interior formatting for publications, websites, and assets for online games. I have worked with clients such as Ulta, ADP, Lenovo, various Kellogg’s and Kimberly-Clark accounts, Sears, Gatorade, New Holland, and many others.

Below is a small sampling of some of my designs.

Book Cover Designs

I have created covers and interior formatting for ebooks and print books for myself as well as several Indie Publishers.

Book Interior Designs

before I go I want you to know (collection)

For my art, short story, and art collection, I put a lot of focus on interior design of the section breaks, as well as combining art with illustrations & edited photography to coincide with specific poems.

Nothing Special (from Lost Boys Press)

For the ebook and print versions of the novel Nothing Special, published by Lost Boys Press, I created twenty-four chapter headers reflecting imagery from each individual chapter.

Book Marketing

Social Posts & Promotional Images

Part of publishing is marketing through social media posts, either to gear up for a launch or to market an author’s backlist of books. These are social posts from several different promotion campaigns for different books.

TikTok Videos

Promos

As part of my book launch for my art, poetry, and short story collection, ‘before I go I want you to know,’ I created posts highlighting specific poems and their related imagery.

Pantone

This video used the photography, illustrations, and text from the original book and re-imagined them for video.

The poem ‘Pantone’ comes directly from the collection.

Etymology

This video used the photography, illustrations, and text from the original book and re-imagined them for video.

The poem ‘Etymology’ comes directly from the collection.

Arche//TYPE Teaser

This is a teaser video for my current project on Patreon, Arche//TYPE, and the first book: The Love Story of a Hero and Villain.

Non-Commercial Video

These are just a few of my non-commercial edits I created for content I love! TikTok has been a place I’ve been able to create content for the joy of it as well as for my own design work.

Why Do We Burn Books?

We tell stories everyday. To ourselves, friends, family, strangers. They have the ability to build or destroy. This is an edit focused on the power of stories, and why throughout history we’ve seen the censoring and burning of books. It highlights different movies throughout the history of cinema.

The Underneath

Marvel’s Thunderbolts was a deep look into mental health, trauma, and grief. The cinematography was a wonder of it’s own. In this edit I pushed the conjunction of beauty and pain while highlighting the correlation between Yelena and Bob’s histories.

In It’s Right Place – Arcane

Taking scenes from the show Arcane and Muse’s ‘In It’s Right Place,’ this edit is focused on the beautiful visual compositions in the show.

Power – Arcane

Using audio from The Godfather, this edit focuses on the elements of rebellion in Arcane.

Illustrated Logos

Over the years I’ve created different illustrated logos, mostly for independent Etsy creators based off the products they offer as well as their shops’ aesthetic.

Campaign Print Design

United Way of Greater Kalamazoo

I was the lead on the 2016 United Way of Greater Kalamazoo campaign. This included developing their marketing campaign, including brochures and posters, overseeing photoshoots, and creating illustrations for the print materials.

Campaign Character Animation

North Carolina Education Lottery

For the yearly campaign for the North Carolina Education Lottery, I was tasked with creating four animations to be used as commercials, and on their social media and Youtube pages.

Social Calendars

Dowling Public Library – Chair Yoga Classes

For The Dowling Public Library, I create the monthly social calendar and social posts concerning events, updates, and to advertise their services.

Kellogg’s Special K

For Special K, we created a content calendar, then photographed and designed social posts for Instagram and Facebook.

Frank About Women

For Frank About Women, a blog focused on women’s issues and history, I created illustrations for special social posts highlighting women from today and yesterday.

Shop Your Way

For the Shop Your Way brand, I created Motivational Monday posts including quotes overtop stock images, focusing on typography to make the posts pop.

I also created occasional fully-illustrated posts, including this duo for March referencing the adage ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb.’

Tazo Storyboards

For Tazo, I created top-down designs in anticipation of photoshoots for the tea brand, focusing on composition and framing of the ingredients.
